About the role
The Superintendent is the company representative who oversees all field operations, coordinating subcontractors' work and supervising both self-performed and subcontracted tasks.
Responsibilities
- Read drawings, specifications, and subcontract documents to plan, prioritize, and schedule construction activities.
- Manage and mentor Assistant Superintendents and other field personnel.
- Travel in the Southeast United States as needed.
- Attend job site safety meetings and document topics discussed.
- Identify and resolve problems, reporting unresolved issues to the Project Manager.
- Maintain job site records of contract drawings.
- Take job site photos and complete daily reports.
- Coordinate with inspectors and obtain necessary permits.
- Communicate effectively with owners, subcontractors, and the team.
- Review and complete final punch lists in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of direct field experience in trades, substituting for a college degree.
- Exhibits a commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessary changes.
- Completes 30 hours of OSHA training every four years, along with first aid and CPR training.
- Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer and company communication tools.
- Manages multiple activities/projects, meets deadlines, and networks with staff, management, and clients.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Is detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of direct field experience in trades, substituting for a college degree.
