Construction Superintendent
About the role
STRUCTURAL is recruiting for a Construction Superintendent to be based out of our Boston office in Chelmsford, MA. The role involves managing field leaders, foremen, and open-shop staff to ensure structures are strengthened and last longer through concrete repair, masonry restoration, waterproofing, and structural strengthening in commercial and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Project Managers, Division Managers, and other leaders within STRUCTURAL NE&F
- Participate in pre-project and pre-task planning activities and disseminate planning details to field crews
- Motivate team members to work together, coordinate work activities with other construction project activities, and assign work to employees based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs
- Ensure crews operate tools and equipment safely, properly, and productively
- Provide training and assistance to crews in performing work-related tasks
- Aid Project Managers in evaluating production rates related to the project
- Complete essential paperwork clearly and accurately
- Interview and hire new field employees
- Lead the Company's Safety 24/7 culture
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- At least 10 years of experience in general construction, with at least 5 years in a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent role
- Prior experience in general repair-type projects, including concrete repair, structural strengthening, waterproofing, corrosion control, facade restoration, etc.
- Previous experience managing 4 projects simultaneously, ideally in a commercial construction environment
- Proven ability to supervise various levels of field managers and crews without subcontract oversight
- Experience reading, interpreting, and executing construction drawings and contract specifications
- Demonstrated dedication to safety and adherence to company operating principles
- Ability to produce look-ahead schedules and work with other construction documents as required by the project
- Proven communication skills with customers, crews, and project teams
- Intermediate computer skills and construction math skills
Qualifications
