About the role
Step Down Unit RN Nights provides specialized inpatient care for patients with complex medical needs, particularly those with cardiac conditions. The role involves managing a patient load in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality patient care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate recovery and stability.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care involving cardiac conditions, including pre/post catheterizations, NSTEMIs, CHF, COPD, and other complex medical cases
- Titrate drip medications such as insulin, heparin, nitro, and diltiazem
- Monitor cardiac rhythms independently using telemetry systems
- Collaborate with team members to deliver patient-centric care
- Float to other Medical/Surgical floors or outside specialties as needed to ensure optimal staffing levels
- Clock in and out at the facility
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a similar setting
- Experience working on a step down or telemetry unit preferred
- Previous experience with the organization must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
Schedule
- No self-scheduling
- Shifts: 0700-1900, 1100-2300, and 1900-0700
- Weekend and holiday rotations
- Orientation includes a 12-hour day off-unit session plus 12-hour on-unit training
