Travel Step Down Unit RN - $2,175 per week

Job Summary

The Step Down Unit registered nurse position is based in a facility located in Hastings, Nebraska. This role involves providing specialized patient care on a unit that manages patients transitioning from intensive care but requiring close monitoring and complex treatments. The RN will apply clinical skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care to adult patients with various diagnoses.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications
• NIHSS, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• Licensure to practice as a registered nurse

Specialty: Step Down Unit Experience

• Proficiency with chest tubes
• Identifying arrhythmias
• Cardioversions
• TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiograms)
• Post heart cath patients
• Defibrillator operation
• Pain management
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use

Additional Notes

• The nurse is required to titrate drips including Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Lasix, electrolytes, dobutamine, and dopamine.
• Occasional care for pediatric patients may be required; pediatric RN coverage is available.
• The unit is equipped with telemetry monitors, CPAP, BiPAP, and tele tech support.
• RNs are responsible for reading their own strips.
• Staffing includes nurse aides and charge nurses who may take assignments.
• Float assignments may include coverage in medical-surgical units.
• Dress code: any solid color scrub, no designs or prints.
• Orientation includes two days of unit-specific training plus a shift on the floor.
• Travelers are expected to work every third weekend, with flexibility for holidays, which are generally rotated every three weeks. No call or standby requirements.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
