Job Summary

The organization is seeking a registered nurse specializing in Step Down care in a hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized patient care within the acute care environment, supporting multiple units, and adapting to various clinical situations. The position requires flexibility to float to different units within the facility.

Position Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a step-down or similar acute care unit
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Ability to pass a cardiac rhythm exam
  • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support patient care for common diagnoses including CHF, cardiac catheterization, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedics, and oncology (administering chemotherapy)
  • May be required to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations

Unit Specifics

  • RNs will report to the clinical coordinator prior to shift start
  • Float to units such as 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), and others with a focus on telemetry and acute care
  • Caregivers should be capable of reading and interpreting telemetry strips, but will not need to titrate drips

Team & Equipment

  • Support from charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists
  • Units equipped with CPAP, BiPAP, vents, and trachs as applicable
  • Telemetry monitors are used, and staff readings and interpretations are required
