This position involves providing compassionate and professional nursing care to cardiac and respiratory patients in a 36-bed unit, with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes. The role requires collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care delivery. Job Details Position: Registered Nurse (RN) in the Step Down Unit specializing in Cardiac/Telemetry care. Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA). Education & Experience: Valid RN license required, with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a step down or telemetry setting preferred. Responsibilities include managing cardiac and respiratory patients, titrating drips such as heparin, insulin, nitro, and other titratable infusions, and reading telemetry strips. Unit characteristics include a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4 to 1:5, with a charge nurse available 24/7. The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as AMI, post-cath, post-op lung surgeries, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, post-PCI, and other high-acuity conditions. RT (Respiratory Therapy) manages CPAP and BiPAP equipment; nurses are not required to manage respiratory equipment. The unit operates 24/7, with every-other-weekend shifts required, and holidays included in the rotation. Floating to MedSurg/Tele units may be required, with a cap on ratios if necessary.
