Travel Step Down Unit RN - $2,285 per week

Job Summary

The organization is seeking a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position in a facility setting. This critical role involves caring for a diverse patient population with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory, neurological, surgical, and cardiac issues. The nurse will provide specialized intermediate care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated;
• Active BLS certification;
• ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) nursing experience with a nurse to patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1;
• Experience with ventilator and trach management, including titrating drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors;
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, neuro/surgical/cardiac conditions, and others requiring advanced respiratory support such as BiPAP, CPAP, ventilators, and tracheostomies.
• Read bedside monitors, manage titratable drips, and collaborate with a charge nurse on each shift.

Certifications

• BLS (AHA);
• ACLS recommended.

Additional Information

• Orientation includes one day each for EPIC system training, unit orientation with an educator, and on-the-floor practice with an RN.
• Travel RNs may float to ICU or other units as needed, with appropriate experience.
