About the role

Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position in Bismarck, North Dakota. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical and cardiac conditions, including post-procedural care, respiratory support, and acute on chronic illnesses. The RN will perform patient monitoring, interpret telemetry strips, and manage titratable drips, contributing to a dynamic unit focused on both medical and telemetry care.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts (7 am – 7 pm or 7 pm – 7 am)
• Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Shift rotation will not exceed weekly changes

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret telemetry strips
• Manage titratable infusions such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine
• Troubleshoot BiPap, trachs, and Airvo devices
• Float to additional units (Medical Services, Emergency Room) as needed
• Patient ratios around 1:4–5, with a goal of 1:10

Requirements

• Valid RN license
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a step down or telemetry setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic experience
• Familiarity with telemetry
• Tele/monitor tech experience
• Prior experience with adult and geriatric patient populations

Additional Information

• Orientation: two 12-hour shifts on the first weekend of hire
• Uniforms: scrubs provided in any color
• Telemetry techs available for monitor management
• Nurse aides/patient care technicians assigned
• Role begins on 07/27/2026
• Reasonable Transportation Option (RTO) approval required for up to 7 days within the 13-week contract period
