Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations for patients in acute care settings, addressing communication, cognition, voice, and swallowing
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans; set goals, track progress, and document notes accurately
• Perform bedside swallow evaluations; coordinate with the nutrition team and medical staff; refer for instrumental studies as indicated
• Provide therapy across appropriate modalities; adjust treatment frequency and intensity; participate in discharge planning and goal setting
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapy, physical therapy, dietitians, social work, and case management to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about communication strategies, dysphagia management, and post-acute care plans; document patient education in records

Requirements

• Active state license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in Maine
• 1+ year of clinical experience in acute care or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• BLS certification preferred or readily obtainable
