Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures in speech-language pathology addressing communication disorders and dysphagia, including modified barium swallow, under physician orders
  • Evaluate residents, establish a therapeutic plan of care with functional long- and short-term goals, and monitor progress toward those goals
  • Provide education to residents and caregivers; recommend and teach use of appropriate communication/swallowing assistive devices; document response to teaching
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, participate in pertinent meetings, and provide consultation to physicians regarding therapeutic and discharge needs
  • Maintain thorough and accessible documentation of all evaluative and therapeutic interactions in accordance with department procedures
  • Maintain department cleanliness, enforce infection control procedures, and stay current with clinical knowledge through ongoing education and in-services

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Active Massachusetts Speech-Language Pathologist license
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred
