Requirements

• Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or multiple hospital locations
• Cannot hold a concurrent position at any Trinity Health facility
• Ability to complete orientation and training (options available to fit your schedule)
• 2 years of current experience working in an acute setting (hospital, not nursing home or rehab)
• Active Respiratory Therapist license

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of a Respiratory Therapist per AARC guidelines, including advanced procedures such as operating balloon pumps, working in NICU, and performing Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)
• Responds to cardiopulmonary arrest and other emergency situations
• Participates in patient rounds and ensures treatments align with physician orders and approved medical protocols
• Maintains equipment in safe operating condition and reports issues as needed
• Assesses patient situations and suggests therapy changes to medical staff for improved cardiopulmonary care
• Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen and medical air shutdown procedures
• Reviews and adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
• Prioritizes and manages conflicting requests for respiratory care services
• Provides high-quality, age-specific, and culturally competent patient care
• Completes annual unit/area competencies and participates in new educational programs and equipment/procedure implementations
• Facilitates instruction of staff or students during clinical training and provides feedback when applicable
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality
• Serves as a consultant, resource, and role model for respiratory care in committees or work groups
• Uses "AIDET" principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and "Key Words at Key Times" in patient interactions
• Builds cooperative relationships and approaches conflict constructively
• Completes annual Health Stream training per Trinity Health standards
• Maintains professional growth through ongoing education and logs activities
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two-year advanced practitioner program accredited for Respiratory Therapy (registry eligible)
• Current RRT credential
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications

Pay

Starting pay rate: $37.11 per hour (not including applicable differentials and travel stipend). Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions are paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rate.

• Gross weekly rate for this assignment: $2,736.00 (3x12-hour shifts)
