Requirements
- Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or multiple hospital locations
- Cannot hold a concurrent position at a Trinity Health facility
- Ability to complete orientation and training (options available to fit your schedule)
- 2 years of current experience working in an acute setting (hospital, not nursing home or rehab)
- Active RT license
Responsibilities
- Performs various therapeutic procedures, including advanced practice procedures such as operating balloon pumps, working in NICU, and performing Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)
- Behaves in accordance with Trinity Health’s Mission, Vision, and guiding behaviors
- Provides professional leadership in patient care delivery using "AIDET" principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and "Managing Up" communication techniques
- Uses "Key Words at Key Times" to enhance patient and internal customer experiences
- Serves as a consultant, resource person, and role model for respiratory care in system committees or work groups
- Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and fosters cooperative relationships
- Performs duties per AARC guidelines, including responding to cardiopulmonary arrest and other emergencies
- Participates in patient rounds and ensures treatments align with physician orders and approved protocols
- Assesses patient situations and suggests therapy changes to medical staff for improved care
- Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen and medical air shutdown procedures
- Reviews and adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Prioritizes conflicting requests for respiratory care services
- Provides high-quality, age-specific, and culturally competent patient care
- Completes annual unit/area competencies and participates in new educational programs and equipment implementations
- Facilitates instruction of staff or students during clinical training
- Completes Health Stream training annually and maintains a log of professional growth activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduate of a two-year advanced practitioner-accredited Respiratory Therapist program (registry eligible)
- Current RRT credential
- Valid BLS and ACLS certifications
Pay
Pay Range: $37.11 per hour (not including applicable differentials and travel stipend). Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. For this assignment: $2,736 gross weekly rate for 3x12-hour day shifts.
