Responsibilities
- Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and guiding behaviors of Trinity Health.
- Provides professional leadership in the delivery of patient care using "AIDET" principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and "Managing Up" techniques.
- Serves as a consultant, resource person, and role model for respiratory care in health system committees or work groups.
- Maintains confidentiality of information according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Facilitates cooperative relationships and helps identify and resolve problems constructively.
- Performs all duties of a Respiratory Therapist per AARC guidelines, including:
- Responding to cardiopulmonary arrest and other emergency situations.
- Participating in patient rounds.
- Ensuring treatments align with physician orders and approved medical protocols.
- Maintaining equipment in safe operating condition.
- Suggesting changes in therapies based on clinical assessment.
- Demonstrating knowledge of oxygen and medical air shutdown procedures.
- Reviewing and adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prioritizing and addressing conflicting requests for respiratory care services.
- Providing high-quality patient care considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs.
- Demonstrates annual unit/area competencies and participates in new educational programs and equipment/procedure implementations.
- Facilitates instruction of staff or students during clinical training.
- Completes Health Stream yearly and maintains a log of professional growth activities.
- Performs advanced practice procedures such as operating balloon pumps, working in NICU, and performing Pulmonary Function testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or multiple hospital locations.
- EPIC experience preferred.
- Cannot hold a concurrent position at a Trinity Health facility.
- Ability to complete orientation and training.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a two-year advanced practitioner Accredited Respiratory Therapist program; registry eligible.
- Current RRT credential.
- Valid State of New York License in Respiratory Care.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and department management.
- Analytical skills to identify patient needs.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 100% of work time.
- Physical ability to walk and stand for approximately 60% of work time and lift, pull, push, and carry portable equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
Pay
Pay Range: $73.00 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
