Requirements
- Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or multiple hospital locations
- EPIC experience preferred
- Cannot hold a concurrent position at a Trinity Health facility
- Ability to complete the orientation and training
Responsibilities
- Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and guiding behaviors of Trinity Health
- Provides professional leadership in the delivery of patient care using "AIDET" principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and "Managing Up" concepts
- Uses "Key Words at Key Times" to enhance patient and internal customer experiences
- Serves as a consultant, resource person, and role model for respiratory care in health system committees or work groups
- Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines
- Facilitates good rapport and cooperative relationships; approaches conflict constructively
- Maintains safe respiratory therapy practices and alerts management of safety issues
- Performs all duties of a Respiratory Therapist per AARC guidelines, including:
- Responding to cardiopulmonary arrest and other emergency situations
- Participating in patient rounds
- Ensuring treatments align with physician orders and approved medical protocols
- Assessing equipment safety and contacting repair personnel as needed
- Suggesting changes in therapies based on clinical assessment
- Demonstrating knowledge of oxygen and medical air shutdown procedures
- Maintaining knowledge of hospital and departmental policies
- Prioritizing and addressing conflicting requests for respiratory care services
- Provides high-quality patient care considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs
- Demonstrates annual unit/area competencies
- Participates in new educational programs and equipment/procedure implementations
- Facilitates instruction of staff or students during clinical training
- Completes Health Stream yearly per SJMHS standards
- Responsible for own professional growth and maintaining a log of activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduate of a two-year advanced practitioner Accredited Respiratory Therapist program; registry eligible
- Current RRT credential
- Valid State of New York License in Respiratory Care
Skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to engage with patients, physicians, and health personnel
- Analytical skills to identify patient needs
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 100% of work time
- Physical ability to walk and stand for approximately 60% of work time and lift, pull, push, and carry portable equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
Pay
Pay Range: $73.00 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
