About the Role

  • Treats patients with cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, medicine, trauma, surgical, and oncology populations in an inpatient acute care setting.
  • Establishes treatment plans, provides treatment, and considers discharge needs, expected discharge functional status, and appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Educates, collaborates with, and conferences with patients, families, and other healthcare providers; makes recommendations for referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Delegates tasks to assistants and techs through written and verbal communication, determining skill level or competency required to meet patient needs.
  • Completes documentation in accordance with departmental policies.
  • May float within any therapy service line to meet facility needs.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 0700–1530 (start time flexible up to 0800).
  • Required to work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) during a 4-week period, resulting in a day off during the applicable week.
  • Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract; cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of level 1 trauma acute care experience (required).
  • BLS certification and state licensure.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • No floating to sister facilities.
  • Locals not accepted within a 75-mile radius.
  • Return-to-office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days within the 13-week contract.

Skills

  • Acute care experience (level one trauma hospital experience).
  • Strong communication.
  • Desire to work in a variety of patient populations.
  • Adaptive equipment assessment (adult), cognitive assessment, discharge planning, evaluation, home exercise program development, lifting and transfer techniques, patient/family education, plan of care development, reassessments, safety and injury prevention, and screening.
