Travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located in Westwood, New Jersey, United States. Start date: September 8, 2026. Local candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius.
About the Role
This is a travel assignment in a Level II NICU with a 5-bed unit in a hospital setting. The patient population includes neonates with prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN), hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, sepsis workup, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS).
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to neonates, including intake, assessment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Manage ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy; adjust settings as ordered.
- Perform UAC/UVC care and maintain peripheral IV lines; administer medications and IV fluids per protocol.
- Administer phototherapy and support thermoregulation.
- Assist with enteral feeding (gavage/NG feeds) and breast/bottle feeding as indicated.
- Conduct sepsis workups, administer antibiotics/antivirals, and handle blood products per orders.
- Monitor for prematurity-related issues (RDS, hyperbilirubinemia, hypoglycemia), document APGAR scores, and participate in rounds and care planning.
- Document in Epic and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team; may float to Baby Nurse as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license in New Jersey or a compact license in hand at time of submittal.
- Certifications: BLS and NRP or NRP Advanced (STABLE listed).
- Neonatal/NICU experience; Level II NICU experience preferred; 2 years’ experience preferred.
- Epic charting experience required.
- Travel experience preferred.
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts in a NICU setting; may float to Baby Nurse as needed.
Pay
Weekly pay range: $1,658–$1,743.
Schedule
3x12-hour night shifts. Contract duration: weeks-long travel assignment.
