Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality, professional nursing care to a group of patients using the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, document, evaluate)
  • Provide care to Med/Surg and eICU patients, monitor labs and vital signs, anticipate complications, and respond to changes in patient status
  • Administer medications, including IV therapy, with emphasis on safety and accuracy; document and verify orders in the EMR
  • Develop and document individualized plans of care; set priorities in alignment with physician orders and unit policy
  • Educate patients and families, coordinate discharge planning, and facilitate continuity of care with the healthcare team
  • Monitor for adverse events, maintain infection control practices, ensure safety, and handle specimens appropriately
  • Communicate significant changes in patient condition to the Provider and collaborate with the health care team
  • Perform procedures per approved policies and procedures and delegate tasks to licensed/unlicensed staff as appropriate

Requirements

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license (active)
  • Education: Two-year nursing degree required; BSN preferred
  • Certifications: BLS required (or obtained within 1 month of hire); ACLS required (or obtained within 6 months); PALS encouraged
  • Experience/demonstrated ability: Comfortable caring for Med/Surg and eICU patients; able to manage multiple patients with independence and adaptability
  • Skills: Proficient in EMR/documentation, strong clinical skills, effective communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in an inpatient setting and adapt to unit needs and daily assignment changes
