Travel, temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse in an adult medical/surgical unit in Rochester, NY. Assignment duration is 17 weeks with a start date of 09/14/2026.
About the role
This inpatient medical/surgical unit also cares for patients with active co-morbid psychiatric and/or behavioral issues. The unit is expanding and seeks flexible, reliable nurses. There is potential to pursue dual-certification in both medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing after meeting experience requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to adult med/surg patients in an inpatient setting.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments; monitor vital signs, respond to changes in patient condition, and administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
- Manage telemetry monitoring and document rhythm changes; communicate findings to the care team.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement patient care, including discharge planning and patient/family education.
- Maintain accurate, complete documentation in the electronic medical record; adhere to clinical policies and safety protocols.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort, address patient needs promptly, and participate in unit activities and on-call duties as required.
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York State (NY RN License).
- Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Psychology experience required.
- Telemetry experience required.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and callbacks.
- Willingness to pursue dual-certification in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing after meeting experience requirements.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts with rotating day, evening, and night coverage.
- Weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback as needed by the unit.
Pay
Weekly pay ranges from $2,147 to $2,287.
