Travel assignment for a Registered Nurse – Charge Acute Care role in San Luis Obispo, California.
About the role
This unit-based leadership role supports patient care on a trauma-level unit in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital. The position involves supervisory responsibilities without on-call requirements.
Schedule
- Start date: 09/14/2026
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:30–19:00)
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week
Pay
Weekly pay: $1,989-$2,107 per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide unit-based leadership in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and care teams; supervise assigned nursing and ancillary staff.
- Initiate and coordinate conferences with the health team, patients, and families to develop and revise care plans for optimal, individualized care.
- Direct and monitor personnel in the performance of patient care activities to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery of services.
- Participate in patient care as needed and lead rounds to assess care needs and introduce yourself to patients and families.
- Promote patient- and family-centered care with attention to cultural diversity and individual needs; gather feedback to improve the patient experience.
- Manage administrative expectations of a nurse lead on the unit, including scheduling considerations and interdepartmental communication.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum two years recent acute care experience; supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills required.
- Licenses/Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) required; TNCC required; ACLS required.
- Department-specific credentials: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS required; TNCC required.
- Experience in a trauma-level unit preferred.
- Strong leadership, rounds, care planning, and interprofessional collaboration skills.
