Required Qualifications

  • Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated

  • Active BLS (American Heart Association)

  • NIHSS certifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience

  • Recent experience working on a dedicated neuro or trauma unit

  • Heparin titration experience

  • No first-time travelers

  • Previous travel experience

Unit Details

  • 54-bed neuro med-surg acute unit

  • Patient ratios on night shift 1:5-6

  • Charge nurses available 24/7 and a house supervisor

  • Nurse aides/patient care techs on duty

  • Duties include troubleshooting telemetry equipment and managing titratable drips like heparin

Additional Responsibilities

  • Float rotation with other staff and skills competency

  • Orientation provided (2 days) including unit-specific and computer training, plus patient care

  • Telemetry monitoring via Phillips systems; nurses are responsible for reading their own strips

  • Dress Code: No specific scrub color, tattoos covered, no piercings besides ears

  • Must have level 1 trauma experience, neuro unit experience, and previous travel experience

  • Call or standby required

  • No floating outside the general unit unless for urgent needs and within staff competency

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
