About the role

The position is a Medical Lab Technician role located in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols.
  • Broadly exercises independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
  • Ensures availability of test results by collecting specimens in a timely manner.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and updates to technical procedures.
  • Interprets and verifies test results, recognizing abnormal or inconsistent results and investigating appropriately.
  • Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner by prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Maintains workstations in a clean and organized manner.
  • Completes special projects as assigned, utilizing LIS, EMR, and other tools and resources.
  • Participates in student and new employee training.
  • Suggests process improvement opportunities and looks for innovative ways to enhance error prevention.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Medical Lab Tech experience.
  • MLT or MLS Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent within 1 year of hire.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution within 2 months of hire.
  • Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.
  • Two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to perform laboratory procedures independently.
  • Knowledge of quality control and instrument maintenance.
  • Experience with specimen procurement and processing.
  • Ability to interpret and verify test results accurately.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and training abilities.

Pay

Pay package is based on 10 hour shifts and 70 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

3rd shift, 7/70 schedule. 7 10-hour days in a row followed by 7 days off.
