About the role
The position is a Medical Lab Technician role located in West Bend, Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols.
- Broadly exercises independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
- Ensures availability of test results by collecting specimens in a timely manner.
- Keeps abreast of changes and updates to technical procedures.
- Interprets and verifies test results, recognizing abnormal or inconsistent results and investigating appropriately.
- Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner by prioritizing and multitasking.
- Maintains workstations in a clean and organized manner.
- Completes special projects as assigned, utilizing LIS, EMR, and other tools and resources.
- Participates in student and new employee training.
- Suggests process improvement opportunities and looks for innovative ways to enhance error prevention.
Requirements
- 2 years of Medical Lab Tech experience.
- MLT or MLS Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent within 1 year of hire.
- ASCP certification or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution within 2 months of hire.
- Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to perform laboratory procedures independently.
- Knowledge of quality control and instrument maintenance.
- Experience with specimen procurement and processing.
- Ability to interpret and verify test results accurately.
- Good organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and training abilities.

Pay
Pay package is based on 10 hour shifts and 70 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
Schedule
3rd shift, 7/70 schedule. 7 10-hour days in a row followed by 7 days off.
