About the role
This position involves providing specialized care for laboring and postpartum patients in a high-risk obstetric environment. The role requires floating between units and supporting maternal emergencies, high risk labor and delivery, antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple pregnancies, VBAC/TOLAC, and active management of laboring patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist with high-risk delivery
- Perform sterile speculum exams
- Assist with vaginal deliveries
- Assist with C-sections including sterile setup and circulation
- Perform neonatal resuscitation
- Support epidural anesthesia
- Conduct maternal and neonatal assessments
- Provide postpartum care
- Use Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM)
Requirements
- Valid license in the state
- ACLS certification
- AWHONN Intermediate certification
- BLS certification
- FHM certification
- NRP certification
- Minimum of 0 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
Schedule
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
- Minimum of 48 hours per week
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 09/21/2026
Unit details
- Supportive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, and adults
- Daily census around 9 patients
- Float rotation may be required
Submission requirements
- Must include responses to related questions about prior experience at a Providence facility
- References covering 1 year (or 6 months for CNAs)
