Job Summary

The healthcare professional specializing in labor and delivery (L&D) on the postpartum floor is responsible for providing compassionate and comprehensive care to women in the postpartum phase. The role involves monitoring maternal and neonatal health, assisting with labor and delivery recovery, and supporting maternal-newborn teaching in a hospital setting.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per day, with a minimum of 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in labor and delivery or postpartum nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Licensed, Certified, Registered: Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring (EFM), IV skills, lab draws, high risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin), urine Point of Care testing, capillary blood glucose testing, IStat, adult cardiac monitoring, newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring, heel sticks/venipuncture on newborns, newborn medication including IV administration and maintenance, Bili-blankets/lights, radiant warmers, and support for gyn teaching, postpartum bladder training, and maternal-newborn teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
