About the role

The postpartum and mother-baby specialty position involves providing clinical care to postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients, supporting neonatal and maternal health through assessments, teaching, and procedures. The role emphasizes independent patient care, neonatal support, and collaboration within a team-oriented environment.

The unit supports various clinical staff including receptionists, charge nurses, lactation nurses, clinical nursing assistants, and respiratory therapists, with in-house hospitalist/obstetrics services 24/7. Orientation includes 3 shifts with preceptors, and a voluntary float to med surg or neonatal intensive care units may be required. Scrubs can be any color; free parking is available. Schedule

  • Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Schedule cycle is six weeks, released two weeks prior
  • Holiday schedule spans 12 weeks
  • Weekend rotation is every other or every third weekend

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care to postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients
  • Support neonatal and maternal health through assessments, teaching, and procedures
  • Perform neonatal assessments, phlebotomy, IV skills (adult), breastfeeding assistance, and neonatal care including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, bilirubin, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, and PKU testing

Requirements

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • At least 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience
  • Valid nursing licensure
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EPIC preferred)
