About the role

The Postpartum Floor Nursing position in Tacoma, Washington, involves providing specialized care within the postpartum and labor & delivery units. This role requires delivering high-quality patient care during nights, with a focus on managing antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients. The position supports clinical operations in a fast-paced environment dedicated to maternal and neonatal health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized care for postpartum and labor & delivery patients
  • Manage antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
  • Work 12-hour night shifts with weekend, holiday, and potential on-call responsibilities
  • Titrate drips as required
  • Support newborn transition and postpartum care
  • Manage magnesium therapy

Requirements

  • Valid license to practice as a registered nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • COVID-19 vaccination compliance
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a postpartum or labor & delivery setting
  • Experience with newborn transition, postpartum care, and magnesium management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) system
  • Experience with Centricity Perinatal
  • Experience working alongside obstetric and neonatal specialists

Additional Information

  • Unit requires COVID-19 vaccination
  • Staff work in a neonatal intensive care environment equipped with vents, Cpap, and BiPap devices
  • CNAs and OB/Neonatologist coverage available 24/7
  • In-house advanced practice providers
  • Orientation specific to postpartum and labor & delivery environment
  • Scrub dress code: hospital scrubs or personal scrubs
  • Hospital policy allows cancellation of up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts per shorter assignments

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, nights
  • 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 08/10/2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
