About the Role

The Medical/Surgical Float Registered Nurse will provide care for a diverse patient population, ranging from young adults to the elderly, in a fast-paced, critical care setting. The nurse will manage patients with various conditions, including those requiring ventilatory support, titratable drips, and assistance with substance abuse withdrawal. Proficiency in handling cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and GI diseases as well as post-operative care is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Float between medical/surgical units as required.
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
  • Manage a patient ratio of 1:3.
  • Perform special procedures such as A-lines, chest tubes, and intubation.
  • Utilize EPIC for patient charting and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current RN license in New York.
  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required.
  • Experience with patient management and care protocols in critical care units.
  • EPIC experience is required.
  • Charge experience is preferred.

Schedule

  • 13-week contract position.
  • 36 hours per week.
  • Day 3x12-Hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.
