Role Profile
- Gate to Gate training with all new hires coming out of orientation.
- Continuous development of all new drivers. (Pre-Trip Beginning Day)
- Aid in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures.
- Organize, document, and present driver observations.
- Subject matter expert on all driver processes. (Pod, Paperwork, Daily Deposits, Samsara transactions, etc.)
- Promote driver safety (Lifting and Back Safety, SLAM Safety Videos, Lift Gate Safety, Three Points of Contact, etc.)
- Organize and communicate driver KPI’s. To include updates to driver communication board.
- Aid Trans Manager with weekly drivers schedule.
- Aid Trans Manager with oversight of equipment. To also include reporting down equipment to Ryder.
- Attend daily Trans meeting with Operations VP.
- Provide morning/afternoon Trans updates to Sales and Operations.
- Continuous tracking of late trucks, missed deliveries, and breakdowns.
- Audits of daily Pod usage.
- Driver hotel reservations as needed (Daily monitoring of credit card usage).
- Travel required as needed, to include overnight stay (Shuttle points in KY, WV and OH).
- Weekend responsibilities when called upon.
- Support route delivery/shuttling when called upon.
- Backfill Transportation Management when called upon.
- Support all areas of Transportation when called upon.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with sales team and transportation team members to establish and maintain an excellent customer experience.
- Work with sales and routing to create and maintain efficient delivery routes.
- Fill in as a Route Delivery Driver at company facility or remote domiciles when called upon.
- Maintain Brown Foodservice equipment to ensure maintenance is up to date.
- Ensure equipment conditions and documentation are in compliance with company and government guidelines.
- Monitor Delivery Drivers to ensure a culture of safety and customer service is exhibited, including but not limited to Driver work and appearance.
- Ensure Driver documentation is compliant with DOT regulations, such as health cards and driving logs.
- Train new Drivers and Trainees, reviewing all policies and procedures that need to be followed.
- Provide retraining as needed (on a quarterly basis at minimum) of all tenured Drivers at the company's facility, remote domiciles, and/or during a daily route.
- Resolve breakdowns on routes to minimize downtime and maintain delivery schedules.
- Assist in the execution of duties and responsibilities of all transportation personnel.
- Provide coaching and/or discipline in accordance with company policies and collective bargaining agreement when required for transportation personnel.
- Conduct accident investigations with Drivers and company equipment involved at company facility and the scene of an incident.
