About the Role
The Transformation and Change Management Group (TCMG) is executing major initiatives to enhance critical processes across US operations and global regions. The Director will manage a portfolio of prioritized change projects within the Finance portfolio, working closely with senior stakeholders across SMBC Americas and guiding a team of junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of Finance projects/workstreams and produce executive management updates and presentations.
- Design and support change management programs, including stakeholder assessment, impact analysis, and development and execution of key strategies and plans.
- Execute project management responsibilities for large-scale change initiatives, providing rigor, accountability, progress monitoring, and stakeholder communication.
- Contribute to the overall design and implementation of programs and/or technology strategy to deliver sustainable, scalable solutions.
- Set objectives and targets to measure project execution, delivery, and success criteria of critical milestones and deliverables.
- Perform ongoing monitoring and provide transparent reporting to impacted stakeholders and senior management.
- Build relationships with key internal/external stakeholders centered on collaboration, flexibility, and thoughtfulness in project management.
- Promote the professional development of team members by supporting skill development, fostering continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in change/project management, financial services, or related fields.
- Strong capability to manage complex projects independently, coordinating across multiple stakeholder groups with rigorous attention to detail.
- Significant knowledge of change/program management, financial operations and planning, risk and controls management, IT processes, and data management.
- Ability to strategically develop and implement complex process and technology change initiatives.
- Ability to prioritize efforts across multiple projects and manage competing deadlines.
- Strong understanding of financial management of project budgets and resources.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to influence and build effective partnerships at all levels.
- Ability to manage a team and monitor a large portfolio of initiatives.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and adapt to tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills for management-ready materials.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications.
Work Arrangement
SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model, allowing work from home and the office. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location. Hybrid work may not be permitted for certain roles, such as FINRA-registered positions requiring full-time in-office attendance.
