Under general supervision, the Training Specialist II is responsible for training new and existing employees as well as coordinating, developing, implementing, and revising employee trainings. This role provides oversight to the Hope Autism Clinics new employee training program and supports all Hope programs. The position requires professional interaction with employees, co-workers, and other trainers while embodying the mission and core values of Hope.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and coordinate employee development, training, and orientation programs, including new employee training for Hope Autism programs, Safety Care, and CPR/First Aid trainings.
- Manage new employee training for Hope Autism Clinics, including creating training schedules, setting up for trainings, managing day-to-day operations, supervising new employees during their initial training period, completing payroll for employees in new hire training, and enforcing Hope policies and training expectations.
- Communicate with program managers regarding issues with employees in new hire training (e.g., knowledge retention, failure to meet required training standards, attendance, and performance) and complete discipline as necessary.
- Monitor and ensure staff compliance with all training requirements by running reports, scheduling trainings, notifying departments of staff needing training, and conducting the trainings.
- Assign courses in Hope University and Relias to employees, approve employee-uploaded documents, and chart them where required.
- Input completed trainings into required websites, software, and spreadsheets, and obtain trainees’ training certifications. Maintain records related to the completion of all required staff trainings.
- Create interactive trainings and PowerPoints from developed materials, research new information for trainings, and assist with audits for various internal and external agencies (including state funding and licensing bodies).
- Attain and maintain trainer certifications in Safety Care and CPR/First Aid. Complete all required trainings.
- Assist with managing and proctoring the ACT WorkKeys testing for newly hired paraprofessionals as needed.
- Act as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of alleged abuse and neglect of individuals served by Hope, as outlined in the agency’s policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in an indoor office or conference room/classroom environment, free from extreme weather conditions.
- Work involves both private office settings and larger conference room/classroom settings, requiring close physical interactions with employees.
- May involve conflict situations or interactions with irate or aggressive employees.
- Requires the ability to drive and may involve flexible hours if trainings are required outside of normal business hours.
- Position requires travel to various Hope worksites and may require overnight stays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to traverse property and facilities to set up and complete trainings.
- May be subject to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as prolonged periods of standing (especially when training).
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds at a time.
- Requires the ability to bend, twist, kneel, or stoop on a repetitive or continuous basis.
- Must be able to operate various business instruments including computers, speakers, web cameras, projectors, or copiers requiring manual dexterity.
- Data input and training creation may require extended levels of concentration as well as visual acuity to read paperwork and computer monitors.
- Requires the ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with individuals encountered.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- 2 years of experience in employee training or development.
- Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and the ability to qualify as a DCFS driver.
- Ability to successfully complete background clearance, physical, and drug/alcohol screening.
- Ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of college credits and experience equal to a bachelor’s degree.
Pay
Salary Range: $42,000-$48,000
