Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance, technical, and soft skills training to newly hired and veteran coach operators, paratransit drivers, and other Agency employees required to obtain and maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Affiliate with the development and implementation of training curriculum, lesson plans, and all training material and testing that aligns with identified training needs.
- Implement appropriate training methods or activities for effective learning (eLearning, classroom, on-the-job training, mentoring).
- Evaluate and report on training programs to determine effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate training records and database as required and mandated by federal and state law.
- Monitor progress of trainees and provide periodic counseling and progress evaluation.
- Design, prepare, and/or order educational aids and training materials.
- Administer and collect post-training assessment and/or testing.
- Update instructional procedures and program content as needed.
- Conduct refresher training for operators/drivers returning from long term absences or following a preventable accident.
- Evaluate new training technology and equipment; make recommendations to management.
- Schedule training sessions, organize information technology and other equipment, and manage course enrollment.
- Communicate all training programs on a timely basis.
- May assist in training other areas on a project basis.
- Work with and maintain confidential information.
- Communicate ideas and concepts effectively through presentations to small and large audiences.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify and support creative and viable solutions.
- Write clear, concise reports and documentation.
- Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
- Focus on tasks and recall details; handle frequent interruptions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and three years of experience in commercial transportation, and three years of experience in customer service.
- Must have a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B or higher with Passenger Endorsement for at least two years.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution, with major course work in training and development from an accredited institution.
- Five years of experience in public transportation with experience in a job training environment.
Skills
- Understand and implement adult teaching methods and related use of visual aids and training equipment.
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques.
- Understand and apply learning management systems and web delivery tools.
- Understand and apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations related to assigned activities.
- Proven ability to coordinate, monitor, and evaluate course curriculum and lesson plans.
- Proficient managing eLearning platforms.
- Experience coordinating multiple training events.
- Accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
- Analyze data and interpret results.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Effective technical writing skills to produce comprehensive training materials.
- Communicate ideas and concepts effectively through presentations to small and large audiences.

- Basic knowledge and operation of accessibility-related equipment and features based on ADA regulations.
- Safely operate a transit bus and other applicable vehicles related to assigned activities.
- Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
- Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.
