About MIRA Wellness Club MIRA Wellness Club is a members-only wellness club opening in Chennai in 2027. It is the first club in India to bring a strength and conditioning gym, a Pilates studio, physiotherapy, sauna and cold plunge, recovery treatments, and a café into one space, under one membership. The club is for working professionals who want their fitness, recovery, and overall health handled in one place, to one standard, by one team that knows every member by name. Chennai is the first clubhouse. MIRA plans a network of clubs across India's major cities over the next decade. Why this role exists Every member at MIRA follows a plan built around their body, their history, and their goals, and delivered by a trainer who coaches with calm and precision. The Training Director owns the standard that makes that sentence true. Most gyms in India run on whatever each trainer happens to know. MIRA runs on a written house training philosophy: how we assess a new member, how we program strength, conditioning, and recovery, how we prepare members for events like a marathon or Hyrox, and how a trainer speaks to a tired professional at 7 PM. The Training Director owns that philosophy, hires and develops the trainer team against it, and is accountable for member results. This is a founding employee role, hired at the same level as the Operations Director. The Operations Director runs the club; you own what happens on the training floor and in every member's program. What you will do Before opening Take ownership of MIRA's house training philosophy. A working draft exists; you refine it with the founder and make it yours to defend.Hire the founding trainer cohort with the founder: strength and conditioning, Pilates, and physiotherapy. You run the technical screening; the founder makes final decisions.Design and run trainer onboarding. Technical standards are half of it; the other half is hospitality, because our trainers coach working professionals with courtesy and calm, not bootcamp volume.Own the member assessment standard: the intake conversation, movement screening, strength baselines, and the health flags that decide when we say "see a doctor first."Define programming standards across the floor, including event preparation for members training toward a marathon or Hyrox.Work with MIRA's back-of-house planning system. Software helps draft and track member programs; you own the quality bar it has to meet, and the trainer always remains the member's coach. After opening Own member results: strength, fitness, and body composition, measured and reviewed on a regular cadence.Review and sign off member programs. Nothing reaches a member's plan without meeting the house standard.Run weekly trainer education. The team should coach in one language, and get better every month.Hold the floor standard: quiet, precise, personal coaching. Correct it when it slips.Own training safety: injury escalations, medical-clearance gates, and the judgment calls in between.Be present on the floor. This is a coaching leadership role, not an office role. The standard we are hiring for A member's program accounts for their injury history, their sleep, their travel weeks, and the hours they actually have. Not a template.A new trainer sounds like MIRA within weeks: same assessment, same programming logic, same courtesy.A member training for their first marathon gets a plan that builds them up safely, not one that hands them an injury at kilometre 30.Safety gates are never skipped, however confident the member sounds. Success in the role Six months in: the founding trainer cohort is hired, onboarded, and coaching in one house language. The assessment standard is live. The club opened with programs ready for every founding member.Twelve months in: member results are measurable and improving, member retention reflects it, and trainers are visibly developing under you.Twenty-four months in: the training playbook is documented well enough to open a second city, and your education program largely runs itself. Who should apply You Should Have 8 or more years of coaching experience, including time leading, educating, or mentoring other trainers.A formal grounding: a sports science or exercise physiology degree, or a rigorous internationally recognised strength and conditioning certification.Experience coaching both serious athletes and everyday working professionals. This role is mostly the second group.A teacher's temperament. Building other coaches should excite you as much as coaching members.Fluent English. Tamil is a real advantage. You Should Be Evidence-led. You program from principles and data, not fashion.Calm and precise on the floor. Our members finish long workdays; they are coached, not shouted at.Comfortable with technology as a tool that extends your judgment, never replaces it.Excited to write the playbook for a category that doesn't exist in India yet. Compensation Fixed salary ₹13–17 lakh per year, based on experience.Performance bonus Up to ₹2–3 lakh per year, tied to member results and retention.PropCo ESOPs 0.5–1.0% of MIRA's Chennai club entity, vesting over four years with a one-year cliff. At our current post-money seed valuation this is an estimated ₹12–24 lakh; that estimate will change as the company's valuation changes.Benefits Health cover for you and your family, and full club membership. How to apply The application takes 5 to 10 minutes. You will be asked to share your CV, why this role, and one example of a coach or team you developed and what changed because of you. The process from there: a phone conversation with the founder, an in-person conversation, a practical session (assess and program for a real member profile), and reference checks. We reply to every application within 5 working days. Apply now Prefer email? Write to armaan@mirawellness.club with the subject line [APPLICATION] TRAINING DIRECTOR. View all open roles
