About the role
The Training and Development Specialist IV position is located in the Training & Development Department at the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) in Austin, TX. Responsibilities
- Coordinate, prepare, and present specialized VR classes, train-the-trainer workshops, project meetings, and conferences for VR staff and service providers.
- Lead the coordination, research, design, and development of formal, complex VR curricula using approved department guidelines and project-management methodology.
- Collaborate closely with Texas Workforce Solutions (TWS) management and subject-matter experts to assess training needs and develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Follow management directives meticulously, actively seeking guidance in training delivery while proactively communicating progress to ensure accountability.
- Accurately prepare documents, including correspondence, reports, and training materials, using professional format and grammar.
- Serve as a mentor for other training staff and advocate for a culture of continuous learning throughout the Texas Workforce System.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet department goals.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in positions that provided knowledge of training methods, techniques, and materials as related to individual development, education, and training programs; or in positions that provided knowledge of agency operation or programs which included giving group presentations.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC).
- Experience delivering training to adults via in-person classrooms or virtual platforms (TEAMS/ZOOM).
- Experience with case management tools, processes, and addressing functional limitations.
- Experience working with individuals who have different abilities and accessibility needs.
- Experience developing and revising training curricula to meet specific business requirements.
- A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Skills
- Knowledge of training methods, techniques, and materials as related to individual development, education, and training programs.
- Ability to lead the coordination, research, design, and development of formal, complex VR curricula.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with subject-matter experts and management.
- Proficiency in preparing documents and maintaining professional format and grammar.
- Mentoring and advocacy skills for a culture of continuous learning.
