About the role
The Traffic Engineering Specialist will support traffic and roadway design projects across Maryland and the broader Mid-Atlantic region. This role involves conducting traffic operational analysis, performing transportation safety and crash data analysis, supporting multimodal design and evaluation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities, assisting with traffic signal coordination and timing, developing design concepts using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and collaborating with planners, engineers, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic operational analysis for roadway and intersection improvements.
- Perform transportation safety and crash data analysis.
- Support multimodal design and evaluation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
- Aid in traffic signal coordination and timing.
- Develop design concepts using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Collaborate with planners, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0-4 years of relevant traffic/transportation engineering experience or internship experience.
- Exposure to traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, or similar).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exposure to MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Interest in Maryland DOT, local county agencies, or Mid-Atlantic transportation projects.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Preferred: 0-4 years of relevant traffic/transportation engineering experience or internship experience.
- Preferred: Exposure to traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, or similar).
- Preferred: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Preferred: Exposure to MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Preferred: Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Preferred: Interest in Maryland DOT, local county agencies, or Mid-Atlantic transportation projects.
