About the Role
Develops and maintains economical and efficient transportation for the company and its customers, including the rating and routing of inbound and outbound shipments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with customers, carriers, riggers, warehouses, custom brokers, and all related Amada departments (Parts/Tooling/Service/Software, and Manufacturing) for the routing of outgoing and incoming shipments for which the company assumes responsibility or which affects company costs or customer satisfaction.
- Requests freight quotes from preferred carriers and provides them to sales engineers and their customers for rate comparison.
- Maintains a list of preferred or potential carriers that meet all traffic requirements and have acceptable ratings.
- Tracks machine shipments en route and sends updates to customers, sales engineers/managers, and service by email and phone to confirm scheduled delivery.
- Maintains tariffs and determines and keeps informed of current transportation requirements, restrictions, and rates to assure economical and efficient transportation service.
- Processes SAP delivery for invoice processing.
- Updates and announces shipping details (Setup, Shipped, Delivered) in Edocs.
- Processes and reviews freight bills for correct rates.
- Supports team members as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management, including filing of related traffic documents.
- Prepares special reports as needed.
- Performs physical inventory at various showrooms or warehouse locations as needed.
- Assists in miscellaneous duties within the company.
Requirements
- Experience of at least 1-2 years in domestic logistics and shipping documents.
- Familiarity with the sheet metal machine industry.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and detail-oriented.
- Able to handle multiple tasks at the same time and stay organized.
- Computer knowledge in SAP, Microsoft Office, and Windows is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Lifting: Average weight of 15 lbs, frequency not often.
- Mental abilities: Ability to work harmoniously with others, accept and follow instructions, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Very little travel; may be required during physical inventory.
