Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)
- Supervise daily operations of traffic control teams, including flaggers and technicians.
- Read and interpret traffic control plans (TCPs) and ensure correct setup in accordance with project requirements and regulations.
- Set up, adjust, and maintain traffic control devices such as signage, cones, barricades, and arrow boards.
- Conduct site safety inspections and ensure work zones are compliant with local, state, and federal traffic safety standards (e.g., MUTCD).
- Train, mentor, and provide direction to traffic control personnel on proper safety protocols and procedures.
- Cookordination with site supervisors, law enforcement, and emergency services to ensure smooth traffic operations.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust control strategies in real time as needed.
- Complete and submit daily reports, timekeeping records, and incident documentation.
- Ensure all team members wear appropriate PPE and adhere to safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in traffic control, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Certification as a Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) or equivalent (e.g., ATSSA, state DOT certification).
- Knowledge of MUTCD guidelines, OSHA safety standards, and local traffic laws.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to operate traffic control devices and vehicles (e.g., message boards, trucks).
- Conflict resolution and teamwork capabilities.
- Ability to read blueprints, maps, and site plans.
- Comfortable working under pressure in high-traffic environments.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
- Ability to lift, push, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven terrain.
- Use of hands and arms for handling tools, equipment, and controls.
- Visual and auditory acuity required to operate equipment and ensure safety in field environments.
- May involve long periods of driving between job sites.
Work Environment
- Primarily performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials and environments.
- May work near moving mechanical parts or in high-traffic areas.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, reflective vests, and steel-toed boots.
- Irregular hours, overtime, and on-call availability may be required based on operational needs.
