Responsibilities
- Extensive mold repair and maintenance, routine preventative maintenance on injection molds that requires full disassembly and assembly.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Production support as well as job assignment in the shop.
- Basic machining skills required on lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate metal parts.
- Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
- Knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques for dies and machined parts with overhead cranes.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Heat treat metal tools or parts.
- Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- Develop specifications from general description for specialty tools and draw or sketch design of product.
Working Environment and Conditions
- Potential for high heat during spring, summer, and fall months.
- Moderate noise conditions.
- Working with controlled chemicals.
- Interacting with industrial truck traffic as a pedestrian.
- Working on or around hazardous machinery.
- Infrequent lifts of 40 lbs or greater.
- Working from a step ladder less than 6 feet.
- Working in confined spaces.
- Potential requirement to obtain an in-plant industrial truck license.
- Some overtime is mandated.
- Candidate must be willing to work all 3 shifts.
Requirements
- Journeyman card or 8 years’ experience strongly preferred.
