Responsibilities

• Extensive mold repair and maintenance, routine preventative maintenance on injection molds that requires full disassembly and assembly.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Production support as well as job assignment in the shop.
• Basic machining skills required on lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate metal parts.
• Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
• Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
• Knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques for dies and machined parts with overhead cranes.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
• Heat treat metal tools or parts.
• Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
• Develop specifications from general description for specialty tools and draw or sketch design of product.

Working Environment and Conditions

• Potential for high heat during spring, summer, and fall months.
• Moderate noise conditions.
• Working with controlled chemicals.
• Interacting with industrial truck traffic as a pedestrian.
• Working on or around hazardous machinery.
• Infrequent lifts of 40 lbs or greater.
• Working from a step ladder less than 6 feet.
• Working in confined spaces.
• Potential requirement to obtain an in-plant industrial truck license.
• Some overtime is mandated.
• Candidate must be willing to work all 3 shifts.

Requirements

• Journeyman card or 8 years’ experience strongly preferred.
