Tool Maker ($36.85/hr)

Job Duties

• Extensive mold repair and maintenance
• Routine preventative maintenance on injection molds that requires full disassembly and assembly
• Strong trouble shooting skills
• Production support
• Job assignment in the shop
• Basic machining skills required on lathes, mills, and grinders
• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions
• Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations
• Marks and scribes metal stock for machining
• Knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques for dies and machined parts with overhead cranes
• Ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances
• Heat treats metal tools or parts
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures
• Recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part
• Develops specifications from general description for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product

Working Environment And Conditions

• Potential for high heat during spring, summer and fall months
• Moderate noise conditions
• Working with controlled chemicals
• Interacting with industrial truck traffic as a pedestrian
• Working on or around hazardous machinery
• Infrequent lifts of 40lbs or greater
• Working from a step ladder less than 6 feet
• Working in confined spaces
• Potentially obtain an in plant industrial truck license
• Sometimes requires overtime
• Must be willing to work all 3 shifts
