Tooling Toolmaker – 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm, Pay Rate: $23.23 + **Sign-on Bonus**
About the role
As a Tooling Toolmaker, you'll join our manufacturing team in Decorah, IA. Your responsibilities include:
- Learning to read blueprints, use gauges, and operate toolroom equipment for making and reworking header and secondary tooling for fastener manufacturing.
- Utilizing and understanding the purpose and operation of required toolroom equipment.
- Making header tooling and set-ups to die prints with minimal supervision to meet necessary quality and productivity requirements.
- Selecting and preparing necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
- Maintaining backup tooling to eliminate header downtime and enhance production efficiencies.
- Following schedules and prioritizing duties based on needs and productivity requirements.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the work area.
- Following company safety guidelines.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the work area.
- Performing all other duties as requested by Supervisor or Leadperson.
- Being available to work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Under supervision, learn to read blueprints, use gauges and equipment for the purpose of making and reworking header and secondary tooling for fastener manufacturing.
- Utilize and understand the purpose and operation of required toolroom equipment.
- Capable of making header tooling and set-ups to die prints with minimal supervision to meet necessary quality and productivity requirements for heading and secondary departments.
- Read all manufacturing and tooling blueprints and select and prepare necessary tools to meet print tolerances.
- Maintain back-up tooling required to eliminate header downtime and enhance production efficiencies.
- Follow schedules and prioritize duties based on needs and productivity requirements or assigned by supervisor or leadperson.
- Know and follow ISO & IATF16949 and SPC procedures pertaining to toolroom.
- Provide assistance to header operators with tooling needs to produce parts to specified dimensions.
- Initiate T.C.R.'s and E.C.'s as needed to improve tooling designs as well as update setup sheets and review obsolete orders.
- Recognize the acceptable quality of draw dies.
- Learn how to interpret tooling and production prints.
- Utilize and understand all toolroom inspection equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
- Follow company safety guidelines.
- Learn preventative maintenance procedures.
- Follow all safety rules.
- Perform all other duties as requested by Supervisor or Leadperson.
- Be available to work overtime as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong mechanical ability.
- General shop knowledge.
- Basic math skills.
- Good human relations skills.
- Knowledge in IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Educational certification in industrial-related field.
- Header or tooling experience.
- Tools Used: Basic toolroom equipment (lathes, grinders, and cut-off saws); basic inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, and indicators).
