BWC’s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC’s seven offices across the state. Flex-time work schedules allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am, based on operational need and supervisor approval.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to walk-in customers at the service counter.
  • Responds to written and telephone inquiries from public and private employers regarding coverage issues.
  • Monitors, reviews, and establishes coverage on business accounts for private and public employers.
  • Determines if employer is amenable to O.R.C. Section 4123.01 prior to effective date of coverages.
  • Examines and processes annual employer payroll reports and processes true-up reporting or amended true-up reporting.
  • Identifies and refers audits to the appropriate Auditing Supervisor.
  • Answers inquiries (verbally and/or written) from government officials, Bureau personnel, and other customers regarding classifications, entities, rates, dissolution of corporate entities, elective coverage, payroll processing, and/or financial adjustments.
  • Attends training and/or meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • 24 months of experience in a position involving review and processing of claims, collections, billings, payments, or review of documents for accuracy, completeness, and/or compliance with reporting guidelines, laws, or rules.
  • OR 16 semester or 24 quarter hours in accounting, plus 12 months of experience in accounting or other fiscal/financial activity.
  • OR 12 months of experience as an Accountant/Examiner 1 (66111) with state government experience commensurate with duties to be assigned.
  • OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Skills

Knowledge of: accounting; applicable state and/or federal regulations governing documents processed, reviewed, and/or prepared; public relations (developed after employment).

Skill in: use of calculator/adding machine, typewriter, video display terminal or personal computer, and photocopier (developed after employment).

Ability to: apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things; complete routine forms and prepare standard reports and business correspondence; handle routine and sensitive inquiries from and contacts with other government officials, the general public, claimants, and/or providers.

Pay

$23.65 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Flex-time schedules may allow start times between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, based on operational need and supervisor approval.
