Essential Job Duties
- Controls entrances and exits to secured buildings; patrols grounds; monitors for unauthorized persons, fires, and unusual occurrences; and immediately reports emergencies upon discovery.
- Maintains facility security; inspects and safeguard youth, staff, visitors, buildings, properties, and equipment; and responds to alarms, investigating and reporting disturbances.

- Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, youth, visitors, and other authorized personnel to maintain security of premises.
- Greets visitors and maintains logs/records of all persons entering/exiting the facility.
- Ensures doors and windows are locked and lights are on or off as required.
- Responds to alarms, investigates and reports disturbances.
- Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
- Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested timeframes.
- Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
- Embody and support the Texas Model by demonstrating its core values in daily tasks and interactions with others.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- One year of appropriate experience may substitute for one year of college (30 course hours).
- Completed course hours of undergraduate study may substitute for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.
- Completed course hours of graduate study may substitute for up to two years of experience on a basis of 12 graduate course hours for one year of experience.
- Pro-rated part-time experience may satisfy the experience requirement.
