About the role

Provides a secure and safe environment that allows patients, visitors, physicians, personnel, and volunteers to deliver or receive quality services with minimal threats against their personal well-being and property. Responsibilities include patrolling and monitoring facility premises, observing and reporting suspicious and unauthorized activities and unsafe conditions, access control, key management, and emergency response and notification. Renders assistance and security-related services to staff, physicians, patients, and visitors, including monitoring and restraining violent patients. Investigates and documents incidents relative to the facility and provides necessary liaison between staff and local law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor facility premises to ensure safety and security.
  • Observe and report suspicious and unauthorized activities and unsafe conditions.
  • Manage access control and key distribution.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide notifications as required.
  • Assist staff, physicians, patients, and visitors, including monitoring and restraining violent patients when necessary.
  • Investigate and document incidents related to the facility.
  • Act as a liaison between staff and local law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Obtain PSO - Proprietary Private Security Officer certification within 30 days of start date.
  • 1-year recent relevant experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • General knowledge of security officer duties with an emphasis on physical and emotional maturity required for judgment and diplomacy in a healthcare environment.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write incident reports and read business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Problem-solving skills to deal with practical problems and concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Schedule

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Shift: Days, 8-hour shifts.
  • Days of the Week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
  • Weekend Requirements: As Needed.

Pay

Pay Range is $26.39 to $36.94 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
