Security Officer II

Patrol Areas and Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas
• Performs all security-related tasks
• Maintains life safety standards

Investigation and Reporting

• Investigates suspicious activity or persons
• Reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances
• Responds appropriately to emergency, non-emergency, and alarm calls

First Aid Administration

• Administers initial first aid as appropriate
• To the level of training attained

Fire Alarms Response

• Learns applicable systems
• Responds to fire alarms at facilities during actual alarms and drills

Dispute Resolution

• Intercedes in disputes between individuals
• Uses verbal de-escalation techniques
• To diffuse potentially violent situations

Building Access

• Monitors vehicle and pedestrian traffic
• Interviews and investigates individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities
• Locks/unlocks buildings and doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policies

Safety and Incident Documentation

• Investigates and documents safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities
• Reports incidents to the appropriate entities

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Reads accurately and comprehends
• Writes clearly and understands
• Understands safety rules, penal codes, vehicular codes, radio codes, reports, memos, communications, policies, and other required written materials
• Communicates effectively through clear speech and hearing
• Operates vehicles, equipment, and communication devices safely
• Learns and uses basic hospital/security applications and information management systems
• Uses good critical thinking skills
• Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors, and/or employees

Education and Training

• High School Grad or Equiv
• Field Of Study N/A
• 1+ years related experience

Additional Information

• Meets departmental testing (Mental, Physical, etc.) if applicable to facility

• Understanding of Emergency Management principles
