About the Role

The Parent Support Specialist will serve as a primary resource for families in the school community, providing information about educational opportunities, engagement activities, and connecting parents and families to needed community resources. This role involves coordinating parent education programs, increasing family engagement, and enhancing student academic success through direct support and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide families with information about school-based opportunities, including after-school programs and student activities.
  • Coordinate parent education programs to build understanding of school and community topics, as well as academic activities for home.
  • Increase parent and family engagement at the campus and serve as a liaison to support student academic success.
  • Offer reinforcement or extension ideas for learning activities in group settings.
  • Conduct home visits and maintain documentation of all visits.
  • Identify and refer families to community resources, acting as a bridge between families and the school.
  • Serve as a communication link between families and school staff.
  • Plan and coordinate parent education activities and programs that provide information, resources, and support.
  • Disseminate approved materials about community activities, school programs, and information at events like Fam Jams.
  • Develop and implement a plan with specific activities to increase parental engagement.
  • Organize the recruitment, processing, and training of campus volunteers.
  • Attend all required professional learning sessions related to the position.
  • Comply with time and effort reporting requirements for federally funded positions.

Requirements

  • Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S. equivalency).
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required, as remote work is not an option for this campus-based position.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $40,767.00
Median Salary: $50,958.00
