Parent Support Specialist (Grades: EC-8)

About the Role

The Parent Support Specialist will serve as a primary resource for families in the school community, providing information about educational opportunities, engagement activities, and connecting parents and families to needed community resources. This role involves in-depth knowledge of school programs, including after-school and student activity opportunities, to inform parents about enhancement and extension options.

The specialist will coordinate parent education programs to build understanding of school and community topics, as well as provide academic information and at-home activities for parents. The role aims to increase parent and family engagement at the campus while serving as a liaison to enhance student academic success.

Responsibilities

• Provide information to parents to assist with reinforcement or extension of learning activities in group settings.
• Complete home visits and maintain documentation of all visits conducted.
• Know community resources and refer families to them or access resources on their behalf.
• Serve as a communication link between families and school staff.
• Coordinate parent education activities and programs that provide information, resources, and support to families.
• Disseminate approved materials and information about community activities, school programs, and opportunities at various venues (e.g., Fam Jams).
• Develop a plan with specific activities and engagement functions to increase parental involvement.
• Serve as the liaison to organize the recruitment, processing, and training of campus volunteers.
• Attend all required professional learning sessions related to the position.
• Comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as applicable for federally funded roles.

Requirements

• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $40,767.00
Median Salary: $50,958.00
