About the role
The Parent Support Specialist will serve as one of the main resources for families in the school community, providing information about educational opportunities, engagement activities, and linking parents and families to needed community resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth knowledge about school opportunities, including after-school programs and student activity opportunities, to inform parents and families of enhancement and extension options.
- Coordinate parent education programs to build understanding of school and community topics, as well as provide academic information and at-home activities.
- Increase parent and family engagement at the campus and serve as a liaison to enhance student academic success.
- Share information with parents to assist with reinforcement or extension of learning activities in group settings.
- Complete home visits and maintain all documentation of visits conducted.
- Identify and refer families to community resources or access resources on their behalf.
- Serve as a communication link between families and school staff.
- Coordinate parent education activities and programs that provide information, resources, and support to families.
- Disseminate approved materials and information about community activities, school programs, and opportunities at various venues (e.g., Fam Jams).
- Develop a plan with specific activities and engagement functions to increase parental involvement.
- Serve as the liaison to organize the recruitment, processing, and training of campus volunteers.
- Attend all required professional learning sessions related to the position.
- Comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as applicable for federally funded positions.
Requirements
- Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Work Environment
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.
- Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required; remote work is not an option for this campus-based position.
Pay
Minimum Salary: $40,767.00
Median Salary: $50,958.00
