Parent Support Specialist

About the role

This position involves working with families impacted by abuse or neglect, focusing on ensuring child safety and supporting family stability. The role requires partnering with case management staff to provide in-home services, connect families to community resources, and promote safe, nurturing environments for children.

Responsibilities

• Maintain child safety and prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements
• Enhance parents' ability to create stable, nurturing homes supporting healthy child development
• Assist families in resolving crises and accessing appropriate community supports
• Improve parent-child relationships through guidance on care, discipline, and household management
• Support parents in household maintenance, budgeting, and childcare needs
• Help families manage conflicts and address physical, mental, or emotional needs of children and parents

Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or GED; two years of experience working with families and children
• Associate’s degree in human services preferred
• Strong communication, crisis intervention, and family support skills
