About the role
The Parent Support Specialist serves as a key resource for families in the school community, providing information about educational opportunities, engagement activities, and connecting families to needed community resources.
Responsibilities
- Inform parents and families about enhancement and extension opportunities through after-school programs and student activity opportunities.
- Coordinate parent education programs to build understanding of school and community topics and provide academic information and activities to do at home.
- Increase parent and family engagement at the campus and support the academic success of students by providing reinforcement or extension ideas on learning activities.
- Complete home visits and maintain all documentation of these visits.
- Know community resources and refer families to resources or access community resources for the families in the school community.
- Serve as a communication link between families and school staff as needed.
- Coordinate a series of parent education activities and programs to provide information, resources, and support to families in the school community.
- Disseminate approved materials and information about community activities and school programs at various venues.
- Develop a plan with specific activities and engagement functions to increase parental engagement.
- Serve as the liaison to organize the recruitment, processing, and training of campus volunteers.
- Attend all required professional learning sessions directly related to the position.
Requirements
Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with people from various backgrounds.

Minimum Salary: $40,567.00
Median Salary: $50,705.00
