Thrift Store Associate – Keyholder (Full time)

Position Summary

The Salvation Army Grand Rapids Thrift Store provides an enjoyable shopping experience with great deals on a variety of goods. Revenue from the store directly supports the local community by funding Salvation Army Northern Division programs and services.

The Salvation Army Northern Division is committed to “Doing the Most Good” by offering holistic, person-centered support to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, the Corps provides short- and long-term case management, food and clothing assistance, utility and rent support, housing resources, and connections to community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming and positive shopping and donation experience for customers and donors.
• Operate the cash register accurately, efficiently, and quickly.
• Responsible for opening or closing the store as assigned, including securing cash, setting alarms, and completing opening/closing procedures.
• Sort, clean, process, hang, and organize merchandise.
• Stock and maintain sales floor merchandise to enhance product visibility and drive sales.
• Accept and process donations, assist donors with unloading items, and issue receipts.
• Perform light cleaning to maintain a tidy and organized store environment.
• Assist customers with loading purchases as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer services and/or retail experience required.
• Basic math skills required and previous experience handling cash a plus.

• Must pass background checks.
