About the role

Help Group is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse, mental health, and social-emotional challenges. Our diverse programs include academic programs, mental health support, therapy, life coaching, vocational training, specialized social and residential programs, and resources for LGBTQ+ youth and families. We serve over 6,000 clients annually and are committed to empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, milieu and family treatment (home based family treatment may be required)
  • Routine and frequent collateral work with parents, psychiatrists, teachers, assistants, speech and occupational therapists, caseworkers, and others as needed
  • Provide therapeutic support to the milieu, as well as clinical guidance to milieu staff
  • Attend, participate, and/or lead monthly, evening parent trainings, meetings, and/or multifamily groups
  • Provide case management services, which may include interacting with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), school officials, law enforcement, and others as needed
  • Provide 24 -hour availability and crisis intervention to assigned clients on an as needed basis
  • Participate in scheduled staff, agency wide, utilization review, and other meetings and trainings as assigned
  • Maintain client information in a confidential manner
  • Maintain client charts in a responsible manner and meet all paperwork and deadline requirements
  • Comply with the agency guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Comply with applicable professional licensing or certification requirements and critical standards
  • Provide emergency back up as a van driver or monitor to transport clients to and from program
  • Arrange work schedule or required hours to the benefit of the Agency, program, and clients with the approval of the Program Director

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking
  • Master’s degree in psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work and must be licensed, licensed eligible and/or registered with the BBS as an intern
  • Two years clinical experience with children and families, preferably ages 2 -5 for DTI and 5-12 for DR
  • Minimum one year experience working with multiple-issue families (e.g. unemployment, poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, homelessness), and one year experience working within school, day rehabilitation, day treatment, psychiatric hospital, or residential treatment setting preferred
