Therapeutic Recreation Assistant

About the role

The Activities Assistant helps the Activities Coordinator with the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of therapeutic activities for older adults at our day center. The work duties vary on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities

• Helps the Activities Coordinator with the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of therapeutic activities for older adults at our day center.
• Varies on a day-to-day basis, ensuring no boredom in the job.
• Occasionally travels to homes within the community to do activities with our participants.

Requirements

• A Driver's license is required for this position.
• One year experience working with the frail or elderly.
• One year experience providing therapeutic activities in a social setting.

Qualifications

• A High School diploma or GED with the willingness to continue with credit and non-credit classes to advance and enhance skills.

Skills

• Ability to work cooperatively with Activities Coordinator and Day Center staff.
• Willingness to use skills, talents, and creativity to enhance and advance activity programming format.
• Ability / knowledge to take on leadership role in the absence of Activities Coordinator.
